For students of Elementary & Pre-K/K Classes, and parents of Mommy-and-Me Classes:

All K-6 children who can speak and understand Japanese at their appropriate grade levels, regardless of nationality, are eligible for enrollment. Our school is a supplementary school for Japanese speakers and all classes are taught in Japanese. It is imperative to understand and speak Japanese in order to follow teachers guidance during the class. There will be an interview conducted by our teachers to assess your children’s Japanese proficiency prior to enrollment.

Students study kokugo or Japanese as the national language in Japanese at each grade level using the curriculum and textbooks approved by the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, & Technology. Our textbooks are the same as those used at schools in Japan.

We ask parents and guardians of students to administer home study. In order to maintain and improve Japanese language skills it is imperative to assist children with reading, speaking, and homework. It is not enough to maintain Japanese skills by solely attending the school.

Parents and guardians of students are expected to volunteer in the operation of the school. JJS is an organization that requires parental support for all other school events and operations.

Thank you for your cooperation!

A tour of the school and free trial class are always welcome!
